About me

I am an Associate Professor in Sociology at the University of Amsterdam, Programme Group Institutions, Inequalities and Life courses. I am the Principal Investigator in the Vidi project ‘Bringing the context back in: How national institutions and organizations shape ethnic discrimination in the labour market’ funded by The Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO), and Principal Investigator of the GEMM Study, a cross-national harmonised field experiment on hiring discrimination, funded by the European Commission. Previously, I held positions at Utrecht University and the WZB Berlin Social Science Center. I obtained my PhD at the European University Institutein Florence, Italy (2010). My academic interests include ethnic inequality in the labour market, discrimination, social capital and social participation, attitudes towards immigrants and quantitative research methods.
